About Souk Madinat Jumeirah

Throughout the history of Arabia, souks have functioned as cultural, social, economic and political hubs for local communities and meeting points for merchants on vital trade routes. Today, souks serve as a reminder that ancient culture retains an intrinsic power; a root to the past and a branch for a collective future.

Lying in the heart of the iconic Madinat Jumeirah Resort, Souk Madinat Jumeirah recreates the traditional Middle Eastern marketplace through distinctive architecture, commercial exchange and lively cultural entertainment. It is a home of artistic expression, juxtaposed with myriad barrows, stalls and restaurants.

From spices and slippers to locally made handicrafts and jewellery, Souk Madinat Jumeirah is an authentic Arabian bazaar.  Wander labyrinthine corridors under ornate lanterns and carved wood while a troupe of traditional dancers tell tales of times long past.

Arrive by car, or by abra – a traditional Arabian boat - and stay for an hour, a day or an evening. With over 25 restaurants, Souk Madinat Jumeirah offers a wealth of culinary choice and rich cultural entertainment. Stop for a coffee, a light lunch, or a memorable dinner against the enchanting backdrop of the Burj Al Arab, one of the world’s most impressive landmarks.
