Riyadh –  Saudi general public reserves declined by 16.7% in May 2019, compared to the same month a year earlier.

The kingdom’s general reserves amounted to SAR 476.94 billion by the end of May, versus SAR 572.61 billion in the comparative period of 2018, according to the monthly bulletin by the Saudi Arabian Monetary Authority (SAMA).

The government current account surged 154% year-on-year to SAR 134.72 billion during May 2019, from SAR 52.97 billion in the corresponding month a year before.

On a monthly basis, Saudi current account levelled up 13.4% in May from SAR 118.79 billion in April, SAMA’s data showed.

Deposits of public funds and agencies at SAMA grew to SAR 118.5 billion last month versus SAR 104.92 billion in the year before.
