Qatar's public works authority Ashghal has awarded nine new contracts worth Q3.6 billion ($981 million) to local companies for road and infrastructure development projects in new citizens’ sub-divisions across the country.
 
These projects will serve a total of 5,111 residential plots in various areas in Qatar, said a statement from Ashghal.
 
All phases of the event and the signing ceremony were remotely conducted using the video conferencing technology, in the presence of Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Subaie, Minister of Municipality and Environment, Saad bin Ahmad Al Muhannadi, President of Ashghal and other officials.
 
Announcing the deals, Al Subaie said: "MME was keen to allocate new lands plots in various areas throughout Qatar in order to construct and develop roads and infrastructure to serve the citizens in these areas, meet current and future needs, and improve the quality of life throughout the country."
 
Al Muhannadi pointed out that during the last few years, Ashghal had provided services for around 34,918 land plots, out of which 5,045 plots were in new citizens’ sub-divisions, and 29,873 plots in existing citizens’ sub-divisions.
 
These new contracts are distributed over the North and South of Qatar, he added.
 
*First contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Umm Slal Mohammed - Package 01
 
The QR623 million contract was awarded to Hamad Bin Khaled Contracting Company. The scope of works includes road works with a length of about 35.7 km, pedestrian and cycle paths with a total length of about 47 km, 1,315 lighting poles, and 4,310 car parks.
 
*Second contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al-Meshaf South - Package 09
 
The QR545 million contract was awarded to a JV of Development Company for Roadworks and Qatar Building Engineering Company. The project includes road works with a length of about 24.5 km, pedestrian and cycle paths with a length of about 46 km and 695 lighting poles.
 
*Third contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al-Meshaf South - Package 08
 
The contract was awarded to Al-Tawfeeq & Partners Contracting at a total value of QR 515 million to serve 356 plots. The project includes road works with a length of about 40.5 km, and the provision of 1,737 lighting poles and 650 car parks.
 
*Fourth Contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al Ebb and Leabaib - Package 02
 
The QR384 million contract was awarded to Qatar Building Company. The scope of work includes construction of 25.5 km of road works, 51 km of pedestrian and cycle paths, more than 4,170 car parks, and around 2,600 lighting poles.
 
*Fifth Contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Mebaireek - Package 01
 
The QR355 million contract was awarded to Boom Construction Company. It involves construction and development of 54 km of roads, and the provision of 935 lighting poles.
 
*Sixth Contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al-Wajba East - Package 03
 
The QR324 million contract was awarded to Galfar Al Misnad Engineering and Contracting. The scope of work includes the construction and development of about 23.5 km of roads, about 45 km of pedestrian and cycle paths, and the provision of more than 834 lighting poles and more than 2,280 car parks.
 
*Seventh Contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Semaisma South - Package 02
 
The QR319 million contract was awarded to Al Jaber and Partners Construction and Energy Projects Company. The project involves construction and development of about 23 km of roads, about 14.5 km of pedestrian and cycle paths, and the provision of more than 720 lighting poles.
 
*Eighth contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Mebaireek - Package 02
 
The contract was awarded to Boom Construction Company for a value of QR286 million. The project involves construction of 36.8 km of roads, providing 714 lighting poles, as well as developing infrastructure.
 
*Ninth contract: Roads and Infrastructure in Al-Wajba East - Package 01
 
The QR263 million project was awarded to Galfar Al-Misnad Engineering & Contracting company. The project will see construction of road works at a total length of 17 km, providing 34 km of pedestrian paths, about 2570 car parks, and more than 800 lighting poles in addition to surface and groundwater drainage networks, a sewage network and a TSE network.-TradeArabia News Service
