Petrotechnics to conduct workshop on revolutionising shutdown and turnaround processes at the event

Doha, Qatar

Petrotechnics, a pioneer in innovative enterprise software solutions that enables organisations to change the safety-productivity dynamics and keeping people safe in hazardous industries is taking part at the upcoming 5th Annual Plant Shutdown and Turnaround Forum taking place in Doha this week.

Given the current market scenario in the energy sector, companies are shifting focus to ensure minimum plant downtime by cutting maintenance costs through better planning and scheduling whilst ensuring a high safety standard for their skilled workforce.

Keeping in mind the industry requirements, Petrotechnics will address the delegation about the benefits of revolutionising the shutdown and turnaround process in a timely fashion and within budget. The first day of the conference will see Andy Barlett, a QHSE Consultant at Petrotechnics address this very idea by reviewing one of the Middle East's largest petrochemical turnarounds. Barlett's session will focus on the risks involved in the shutdown process and how one can reduce the complexity of the operation to achieve a safer and an effective outcome.

With over 30 years of experience with Saudi Aramco, Bartlett was responsible for implementing a number of processes and initiative which improved the HSE culture within the organisation. Bartlett has also published papers in the field of reliability that include "Reliability & Safety, Hand in Hand to Protect Our Assets" and "Refining Process Safety, Keys to a Successful Program"

Taking the same theme forward, Bartlett will be joined by his colleague David Ross on day three where they both will conduct a hands-on workshop. Attendees will witness how technology can enable organisations to dynamically manage planned and unplanned work to get more of the right work done and how a standardised approach to risk assessments and operational best practices can significantly improve current and future shutdowns and turnarounds.

Leading up to the conference, Bartlett said, "Organisations in hazardous industries are feeling more pressure than ever to perform safe and efficient plant shutdowns, on-time and in-budget with greater intervals in between. The cost of getting these wrong are significant; reputational damage, personal injury, asset damage, an increase in unplanned shutdowns and inefficient production. Here at Petrotechnics we work with our clients to improve Turnaround performance at every stage, from planning to execution, through to better future Shutdowns and Turnarounds. Proscient allows organisations to prioritise planned and emergent work based on risk ensuring they get more of the right work done".

The 5th Annual Plant Shutdown and Turnaround Forum will take place on the 24 - 26 November at Intercontinental Doha, which will convene maintenance and reliability leaders from major energy companies in the Middle East.

Experts at the forum include representation from Chevron, PetroLeb, Marafeq, Kuwait National Petroleum Company, Metso, QAFCO and Samref amongst others.
