Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity & Water & Renewable Energy has issued the main construction tender for its 60 million imperial gallons a day (MIGD) seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) desalination plant Phase 2, located in Doha, Kuwait, two sources aware of the project said. 

The engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender, issued on 5 September 2021, has a bid submission deadline of 5 November 2021, according to the tender notice posted on Central Agency for Public Tenders website. 

The first source said the submission deadline is likely to be extended. 

The project is slated for completion by the fourth quarter of 2024, the second source said. He said the ministry had prequalified 24 companies for the project  

Some of the prequalified contractors include Tecnicas Reunidas, Tecton Engineering, Alghanim International, VA Tech Wabag, Suez, Hyundai Engineering & Construction, Orascom Construction, SEPCO III, Doosan Heavy Industries and Utico, according to officials from three companies.
