Iraq has completed 75 percent of the gate rehabilitation work underway at the Abu Flous Commercial Port, located southeast of Basra, the transport ministry's media director said.

The state-owned General Company for Ports of Iraq (GCPI) is implementing the rehabilitation works, Faleh Hadi told Zawya Projects.

He said the concrete casting works for two main lanes, one for trucks and the other for small vehicles, have been completed following the completion of the reinforcement works for the entrance road.

He said GCPI has started a campaign to develop and rehabilitate port entrances to enable smooth entry and exit of trucks, and parking yards to enable loading and unloading of cargo across Iraq's commercial ports.
