Oman awards main construction contract for Ghala Heights development

The mixed-use project in Muscat is being developed by Civil Services Employees Pension Fund

Oman Tender Board has awarded 54,663,537 Omani riyals ($142.2 million) main construction contract for Ghala Heights mixed-use project in Muscat, it was announced on Wednesday.

Oman's Civil Services Employees Pension Fund is the project developer.

In January, Thomson Reuters Projects had reported Al Tasnim Enterprises had submitted the lowest bid for $142.2 million for the contract, which was tendered in June 2018. Shapoorji Construction Company submitted the second lowest bid of 55.617 million riyals ($144.65 million) while Larsen & Toubro Oman submitted third lowest at 69.5 million Riyals ($180.75 million).

According to the report, the project comprises a 247-key, four-star hotel to be operated by Movenpick; serviced apartments; residential apartments; offices and retail units totaling 146,776 square metres of built up area.

SSH worked on the concept design of the project, the report said.
