Abu Dhabi: Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi (SUAD) is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Silvia Serrano to the position of Executive Director, effective 27 January 2020.

In her new role, Professor Serrano will directly oversee management, strategic planning, human resource development, communications, and executive education across various disciplines, among other duties.

Professor Silvia Serrano is a political scientist and a specialist in soviet and post-soviet studies. She holds a doctoral degree from the INALCO (National Institute of Oriental Studies, Paris) and a habilitation to direct research, defended at the EHESS (Ecole des Hautes études en sciences sociales, Paris). Professor Silvia Serrano has been a professor at Sorbonne University since 2017.

His Excellency Zaki Nusseibeh, Minister of State and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi comments, “It is with great pleasure that I welcome Professor Silvia to the position of Executive Director where she will be a source of inspiration for the students at our prestigious university.”

Her research focuses on political, societal and religious dynamics in contemporary Russia and the post-soviet states. In addition, she is the author of several monographs and collective books, of multiple articles and chapters in international publications and peer-reviewed journals.
