Abu Dhabi: VPS Healthcare has successfully screened about 100,000 residents of Musaffah in about two months as part of one of the largest screening mission undertaken in Abu Dhabi – National Screening Project – led by Abu Dhabi Health Services Company or SEHA. The healthcare group was the strategic partner of SEHA from the private sector. The gargantuan task was supported by a 36-member team from VPS Healthcare by setting up a testing facility at the Al Massoud site with a capacity to test 3,500 persons daily.

The National Screening Project envisioned to screen the entire population of one of the capital city’s most densely populated industrial zone – Musaffah. SEHA had announced the conclusion of the testing program on June 23 after conducting 570,000 total screenings. VPS Healthcare had begun the screening camp of May 3.

The screening program was crucial in checking the spread of the deadly viral infection among workers residing in the industrial zone and had helped the authorities in identifying silent spreaders in the community.

The program was noted for its successful model as it was safe and no-touch from beginning to the end. The open camp held in various parts of the Musaffah was completely foolproof as an efficient triage system was in place to segregate suspected cases from the beginning.

The 36-member team deployed by the VPS Healthcare to support the government mission had worked throughout these days. The team screened individuals at the camp from 9 am until 3 pm during Ramadan days and from 8 am to 4 pm on normal days. Over 6,000 blue-collar workers from various camps were screened in a special shift. They underwent a test for COVID-19 during the night from 2 am to 10 am. Those tested positive were treated at various VPS facilities in Abu Dhabi and Musaffah.

Appreciating the support of VPS Healthcare, SEHA in an official e-mail sent to the healthcare group said they are “so proud of the strategic partnership with VPS Healthcare and the great governance of its leadership to make this project effective and efficient.”

“We extend our sincere gratitude and appreciation for all the hard work, willingness, readiness, and dedication provided by your valuable staff to serve the great beloved country of ours,” the e-mail read.

Safeer Ahamed, CEO for VPS LLH, Lifecare, and Medeor Hospitals, said they were proud to support the government in a pivotal mission. “It was our pride and privilege to support the government and SEHA in the National Screening Program. We are grateful to the authorities for their trust in us and choosing us as the strategic partner from the private sector.”

“The massive screening program had played a significant role in containing the spread of the viral infection. The UAE leadership and Department of Health have done a commendable job. We had screened 99, 130 persons during this period. We believe this has helped in flattening the curve in the capital city. Being a responsible healthcare provider, we are heartened that the mission has accomplished and we are always ready to support the government in the future endeavors. Apart from this, we are still conducting screenings in various parts of the emirate as per the directive of Department of Health,” he added.

The 36-member team of VPS Healthcare included doctors, radiographers, nurses, administration staff, ambulance drivers and others. They screened people from various walk of life including a priest, staff from various industrial units, supermarkets, and others.
