In light of recent reports regarding the contamination of Romaine lettuce with the E. coli bacteria, the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment has given a statement for UAE residents.

The ministry reassured the public that no cases of E. coli contamination have been reported in the UAE.

All shipments of romaine lettuce from Canada and the United States also tested negative for the bacteria, as per Al Bayan report.

Regulations and guidelines have been tightened around any shipments of the leafy vegetable to ensure the safety of the public.

No additional measures have been necessary thus far.

The Ministry of Climate Change and Environment follows the highest food safety standards in line with its 2021 strategy in its vision for global health.
