Egypt -The Ministry of Education and Technical Education signed a cooperation protocol with state-run Telecom Egypt (ETEL) to implement information and communications technology (ICT) in a secondary school, according to a July 8th statement.

Following the upgrade, Martyr Amr Mostafa Hosny Industrial Secondary School for Girls will become WE Applied ICT School for both boys and girls.

The school will offer studies in the fields on information technology, computing, electrosystems, and electric systems.

The applied ICT schools system was launched in September 2018, with a goal of providing an integrated educational environment to upgrade vocational schools in Egypt, education minister Tarek Shawki said.

Shawki added that this is the first applied ICT school in fiscal year 2020/2021.

Students will receive an official certificate from Telecom Egypt after being trained on the latest technology.

The state telecom operator signed an agreement with the Ministry of Public Business Sector in June to implement the telecommunications infrastructure of the digital transformation project for companies affiliated to the ministry.
