Dubai, UAE: Mediclinic, a leading international private healthcare group, including operations in the Middle East, announced today that it is acquiring the Dubai based City Centre Clinics Deira and Me’aisem from Majid Al Futtaim, the leading shopping mall, retail and leisure pioneer across the Middle East and North Africa. This agreement will allow Mediclinic the opportunity to partner with Majid Al Futtaim in the future.

Under the terms of the agreement, Mediclinic will acquire City Centre Clinic Deira, a large outpatient facility which opened in 2013 with two day-care surgery theatres and 18 medical disciplines, and City Centre Clinic Me’aisem, a smaller community clinic focusing on six core disciplines. The clinics serve strategic geographic locations and could refer higher acuity inpatient cases to existing Mediclinic hospitals and the forthcoming Mediclinic Parkview Hospital. Significant potential also exists to attract additional doctors and over time to grow patient volumes and revenues. The clinics can also be efficiently integrated into Mediclinic’s clinical governance framework, support systems and brand.

Majid Al Futtaim opened City Centre Clinic Deira in 2013 with the aim of providing quality healthcare to its shopping mall visitors as part of its integrated lifestyle offering. Five successful years later, this agreement gives Mediclinic Middle East the opportunity to partner with Majid Al Futtaim in future locations, increasing Mediclinic’s brand recognition within high footfall retail environments, a strategy which has been successfully implemented with existing Mediclinic primary healthcare facilities in other malls.

David Hadley, CEO of Mediclinic Middle East, commented:

“Following the success of existing mall clinics in Dubai, Mediclinic identified an opportunity with Majid Al Futtaim at City Centre Clinics Deira and Me’aisem to build additional presence in some of Dubai’s leading retail and entertainment hubs. The clinics are also ideally situated to refer, where necessary, patients to our existing Mediclinic Welcare Hospital in Al Garhoud and our forthcoming Mediclinic Parkview Hospital in Al Barsha South.  We are extremely proud to be associated with the Majid Al Futtaim brand and are confident that the quality standards of both our organisations complement each other well.”

The legal name of this company is “Majid Al Futtaim” and should not be shortened or replaced by an acronym to avoid confusion with another business entity.
