The Public Establishment for Industrial Estates – Madayn, represented by its Social Responsibility Department, organised the second edition of ‘Walking for Good Health’ Walkathon at Suhar Industrial City under the auspices of His Excellency Sheikh Ali bin Ahmed Al Shamsi, Wali of Suhar and Acting Governor of North Al Batinah.

The event was attended by officials from the public and private bodies, business owners, investors, and members of charitable organisations and volunteer teams in the Sultanate. The walkathon was held in line with Madayn’s efforts to enhance social responsibility activities, deepen the spirit of initiative and cooperation among the community members, encourage the companies based at Suhar Industrial City to contribute with financial donations to charitable organisations in Oman, as well as disseminate awareness on the role played by team sports and physical activities in changing the lifestyle of individuals.

Ahmed bin Ali Al Hinai, Director of Social Responsibility Department at Madayn, stated that the walkathon has witnessed a significant turnout from various segments of the society including citizens and residents. “We aim through these kinds of initiatives to activate Madayn’s social responsibility activities and strengthen its role in serving the community through bringing together the community and the investing companies from Madayn’s various industrial cities in such friendly and sporty gatherings,” Al Hinai said, adding: “This particular walkathon at Suhar Industrial City aimed at encouraging the companies based in this industrial city to support the event as the funds raised by the walkathon are dedicated to the charitable organisations in Oman.”

Al Hinai noted on Madayn’s sincere gratitude to all the supporting bodies in this walkathon, which include Ihsaan Association in Muscat and Al Sharqiyah, Al Noor Association for the Blind, Oman Cancer Association, Childhood Care Centre, Ghirass Charity Team, Takaful Charity Team, Hasad Liwa Charity Team, Al Ber Charity Team, Omani Women Associations in Suhar and Sur, Oman Association for Disabled, Omani Society for the Hearing Impaired, Children First Association, and Sahem Volunteer Group.

It is worth to mention that Madayn dedicates great attention to social responsibility activities. In recent years, Madayn launched a series of initiatives to activate its policies and objectives in this regard. Madayn has formed its Social Responsibility Department back in November 2017 to serve as an umbrella of all social responsibility activities and programmes in coordination with Madayn’s various industrial cities.
