MOSCOW - Talks on a new deal for Russian gas supplies to Moldova will continue, a Kremlin spokesman said on Tuesday, after the two sides failed to reach an agreement during meetings last week.

Moldova's gas contract with Gazprom expired at the end of September, and the two have failed to agree on a new price and other details of a new deal since then. Moldova declared a state of emergency last week.

The Kremlin spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, told reporters that the gas prices offered by Russian energy giant Gazprom  at the talks were beneficial for Moldova.
