Riyadh – Mubasher: King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries and Services in Ras Al-Khair has awarded two major contracts to two consortiums to carry out the engineering and construction works at the complex.

A Chinese consortium comprised of Sinohydro hydropower engineering company and SEPCO Electric Power Construction Corporation (SEPCO) will conduct the engineering works, while another consortium formed of Sinohydro’s branch and SEPCO Arabia will build and prepare the industrial areas in the complex.

Previous contracts were signed with a consortium comprised of Saudi Archirodon Company and Huta Hegerfeld Saudia Company for implementing the infrastructure works as well as Khonaini International Company for designing and implementing the administrative and residential buildings.

King Salman Complex, the largest shipyard in the world, has a planned output capacity of building three huge oil tankers, 10 other tankers as well as six marine supply vessels, added to the capability of repairing 116 vessels of the same kind.

In addition, the repair and maintenance capacity of the complex is 137 vessels and 15 offshore drilling rigs.

In November 2016, King Salman laid the cornerstone of the King Salman International Complex for Maritime Industries and Services in Ras Al-Khair, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
