Iranian and Russian pharmaceutical and medical equipment companies inked 11 cooperation documents on Thursday in a bid to expand medical ties between the two nations.

The cooperation documents were signed at the presence of Iran's Minister of Health and Medical Education Hassan Hashemi and Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Sergey Tsib.

The cooperation documents will help development of ties between Iranian and Russian pharmaceutical companies in fields of research, drug production, vaccine, marketing and advanced medical equipments.

Iran's minister of Health and Medical Education, leading a delegation, arrived in Saint Petersburg, Russia, on Wednesday.

Hashemi opened the production line of a newly-made Iranian drug, Fingolimod, used for multiple sclerosis (MS) treatment on Wednesday in Russia.
