InterContinental Abu Dhabi has appointed Neil Houghton, a hospitality industry veteran, as its new general manager to oversee the hotel operations for the award-winning hotel located in the heart of the UAE capital.

Originally from the UK, Houghton brings more than 30 years of leadership in the hospitality industry, 20 years of which have been with IHG as general manager, said a statement from InterContinental. 

In his new role, Houghton will be managing the overall hotel activity and ensuring that its exceptional standards are exceeded besides creating a welcoming community for guests and guaranteeing customer satisfaction. 

Welcoming Houghton into the fold, Bastien Blanc the VP Operations (Middle East) at InterContinental Hotels Group, said: "His vast experience within the industry but importantly within the InterContinental Hotels Group make him a vital addition to the team and further strengthens the relationship with our valued clients and guests."

Houghton most recently held the position of general manager at InterContinental Hotel Shanghai Pudong and prior to that, was the general manager for InterContinental Hotel Kunming and Crowne Plaza Shenzhen and InterContinental Golf Resort & Spa Fiji.

On his appointment, Houghton said: "I am delighted to continue my journey with InterContinental Abu Dhabi. To be part of this lively and outstanding hotel is extremely exciting and I can’t wait to continue providing outstanding services and experiences to all our guests."
