GCC's Power Providers Look to Boost Operational Efficiencies for Long-Term Growth

Abu Dhabi, UAE - 05 November 2015 - Industry-wide innovation will be the driving force behind energy sustainability amid the challenges presented by today's economic landscape, according to experts.

Speaking ahead of next week's Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference (ADIPEC), Steve Bailey, Head of Sales at Aggreko, one of the world's leading power generation companies, explained that stakeholder research and development has never played a more critical role than it does today.

Offering service support and equipment availability in the Middle East through a network of twelve locations across eight countries, UK-headquartered Aggreko has supplied power during construction of some of the region's most prominent projects - including Dubai's Palm Island, Dubai Festival City, the Dubai Metro, the Qatar Pearl, and most recently, King Abdullah Economic City in Saudi Arabia.

"We believe it is the responsibility of organisations such as ours to continuously innovate and provide sustainable solutions to the marketplace," said Bailey.

"For example, the solutions we offer to international oil and petrochemical companies allow them to use excess flared gas as fuel for Aggreko generators, which in turn produce electricity. These organisations then have the option to either use the electricity for their own requirements or sell it on to third party companies."

By driving companies to think innovatively and operate more efficiently, today's market challenges could be leveraged as tomorrow's business building opportunities, added Bailey.

"For example, organisations that would have normally purchased their own assets to produce power for their projects are now looking at short and medium term rental solutions which in turn, free up their capital expenditure for their core business," Bailey said.

"This is just one example, but what it all boils down to is that companies should see this as an opportunity to rethink their business approach. What can we do differently that will not only allow our organisation to survive today, but also to thrive in the long-term? That is the real question businesses should be asking."

Bringing together the world's best and brightest minds in the oil and gas industry, ADIPEC will provide stakeholders with the ideal platform to address this pressing question.

"Today, all players in the industry, from the world's oil and gas giants to service providers, recognise that meeting today's economic challenges through sustainable business models potentially translates into long-term gains," said Jean-Philippe Cossé, ADIPEC 2015 Event Director at dmg events.

"Sharing ideas and expertise through stakeholder collaboration is key to making this happen, and this is precisely what ADIPEC enables by bringing together international experts, decision makers, business innovators, suppliers, and services providers under one roof."

Hosted by the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) and organised by dmg events, ADIPEC is the global meeting place for oil and gas professionals, business innovators, and industry decision makers. ADIPEC 2015 will take place from 9-12 November at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and is expected to host more than 2,000 exhibitors, 7,000 delegates, and 85,000 attendees from more than 120 countries.
