India's L&T bags 200kV substation contract in the UAE

L&T’s PT&D business is currently executing 86 substation projects in the Gulf region

Indian engineering conglomerate Larsen & Toubro has been awarded a 200kV substation contract by a government entity in the UAE.

The company said in a press statement that its Power Transmission and Distribution (PT&D) Business secured an order for the design, supply and construction of a 220kV substation project.

The project is in the emirate of Sharjah, an industry source told Thomson Reuters Projects.

The PT&D business is currently executing a total of 86 substation projects in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region with the UAE accounting for the biggest chunk at 36 percent, followed by Qatar, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

To date, the company has completed and delivered 205 substation projects in the Gulf region.
