Jeddah: Abu-Dhabi based real estate developer IMKAN has opened an ambitious project on the corniche of the coastal city of Rabat in Morocco. Le Carrousel, spans over 100,000 square metres along Rabat’s picturesque Atlantic coastline. The mixed-used destination includes an outdoor mall with more than 120 shops and restaurants, over 200 unique residential seaside apartments, a waterfront with 36 promenade shops and restaurants, a five-star hotel, and 12,000 square metres of office space. With a project value of MAD 1.5 billion Le Carrousel is expected to create more than 1,100 jobs once it is fully operational.

The incredible circular design of Le Carrousel was inspired by Dutch artist M.C. Escher, whose work often included paradoxical, impressive architectural designs of seemingly infinite loops. The project marks a new era of wellness and modern living in the northern Moroccan city, with the entire complex connected by paths and tracks accessible by foot or by bike. The new development is also easily accessible from all points in the city, located just 25 minutes from Rabat–Salé Airport, 15 minutes from the high way and downtown Rabat, and only 10 minutes from Hay Riad.

Walid El Hindi, the chief executive officer of IMKAN said: “We are proud to be part of this ambitious project; it has been a fantastic journey bringing this development to fruition. Situated off the Atlantic coast, the sea-side destination provides a unique 360-degree experience for both its inhabitants and visitors - from top tier apartments to exceptional restaurants, boutiques, offices and a five-star hotel. With its prime location and bespoke residential and commercial offerings, we truly believe Le Carrousel is set to become one of the leading destinations in Morocco.

One of the highlights of the new development is “Le Phare du Carrousel”, an area within Le Carrousel with a small number of private boutique homes. Each of the spacious apartments and bright sky penthouses has spectacular views of the Atlantic ocean, and are filled with natural light, elegant detailing, with a modern open-plan sophisticated design, and spacious outdoor private terrace. The boutique residences come with a communal private gym, beautiful outdoor pool and landscaped gardens. The will be a host of other unrivalled amenities, including a zen area for yoga and meditation, exceptional walking, jogging and cycling paths, and play areas for children.

The area will also be home to the new five-star Le Carrousel hotel. Boasting 123 rooms, it’s the perfect destination for conducting business in the region, with a series of meeting rooms, a ballroom, as well as a gourmet restaurant and spa for downtime at the property. Close to the hotel, there is also the Le Carrousel Business District, with private offices and spaces ranging from a few square metres to several hundred square metres, depending on your business requirements.
