Abu Dhabi: Fifteen infrastructure development projects worth Dh4 billion were awarded in the capital on Sunday, to nine contractors.

The projects, which were tendered by the Abu Dhabi General Services Company (Musanada), will develop roads and residential neighbourhood infrastructure on the outskirts of the capital city and in the Western Region. Work has already begun on a few projects, and they are all expected to be completed by late 2019, according to the company.

Speaking at a signing ceremony, Aweidha Al Marar, chairman of Musanada and chairman at the emirate’s municipal sector regulator, the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport, said the projects aim to ensure adequate living standards for Abu Dhabi’s growing population, and enable the emirate’s development.

Ali Al Mehairbi, acting executive director of building construction management at Musanada, added that the company prioritises efficiency in performance and enhanced services.

Projects

Among the awarded projects are five that will be centred in the Western Region town of Madinat Zayed. Saif Bin Darwish, a civil engineering and building contractor will be working on three of these, including a 45-month project to develop roads and infrastructure for an Emirati housing neighbourhood at more than Dh979.8 million, and two packages worth Dh108.9 million and Dh89.7 million to set up roads and infrastructure within other sectors. A fourth project to develop roads and infrastructure for an Emirati residential neighbourhood at a cost of Dh738 million was awarded to Kuwait-based company Mohammed Abdulmohsin Al-Kharafi and Sons Company, while Nael and Bin Harmal Hydroexport Establishment, a UAE-based construction contractor, will execute a Dh518.6 million project to set up roads and infrastructure for an Emirati neighbourhood.

Ghantoot Transport and General Contracting won a Dh599.9 million project to construct the road connecting two Western Region towns, Al Mirfa and Madinat Zayed. The project is expected to last 30 months. The company will also work on a Dh108.5 million project for road and infrastructure development across four sectors in Madinat Zayed.

Outskirts

The year-long project to design and build infrastructure for the new industrial area in the Western Region town of Ghayathi, worth Dh108 million, was awarded to Western Bainoona Group for General Contracting. The company will also set up roads and infrastructure in Al Nahdha Military area on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi City for Dh102.7 million, as well as carry out infrastructure works and public realm design for Sector W52-2 in Abu Dhabi island.

Meanwhile, Al Jaber Transport and General Contracting will work to set up roads and infrastructure for four sectors in Madinat Zayed at a cost of Dh107.8 million. Bin Hafeez General Contracting won two projects to develop infrastructure in Mohammad Bin Zayed City at a cost of Dh101.9 million and Dh85.9 million. A joint contracting venture, Wade Adams Hilalco, will undertake works in north Al Wathba for a cost of Dh79.9 million.
