Dubai-headquartered Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower) announced on Wednesday that it would provide district cooling services to ICD Brookfield Place in Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).

The utility said in a press statement that 53-storey building, with a built-up area of 1.1 million square feet, would be cooled with approximate capacity of 6,500 Refrigeration Tonnes (RT).

The district cooling services would be delivered in three phases from Empower's DIFC plant, the statement added.

The utility's 62,000 RT DIFC plant is one of the largest operational district cooling plants in the region, according to a previous Empower press statement.

Empower CEO Ahmad Bin Shafar said in the statement that the diversity of the company's [customer] portfolio "reflects the confidence of real estate developers and customers in district cooling solutions."

Last week, Empower had stated that commercial buildings account for 15 percent of the 1,090 buildings it currently serves in Dubai.
