Cairo –  The Egyptian minister of local development Mahmoud Shaarawy revealed that several projects are currently being implemented with investments of EGP 4.1 billion in Sohag and Qena.

The first phase of the plan includes providing water and sewage services to further villages, improving road networks, and stimulating local economy through raising the efficiency of industrial zones and developing tourism attractions, Shaarawy said in a statement on Monday.

Most of these projects have already been implemented, while the remaining projects are expected to be complete by 30 June 2020, he noted.

This came during the local development minister’s meeting with a delegation from the World Bank which has previously provided a $500 million loan to Upper Egypt development programme to which the Egyptian government has contributed an amount of $457 million.
