Cairo –  The Egyptian Ministry of Electricity announced signing a contract to build an electricity network to electrify 50,000 feddans in East Owenat at an estimated cost of EGP 500 million.

The estimated investment cost of the project includes all supplying and installation operations, minister of electricity Mohamed Shaker said in a statement on Wednesday.

In a bourse disclosure, Elsewedy Electric Co announced that its subsidiary Elsewedy Electric for Trading and Distribution signed a contract worth EGP 475 million to build the electricity network in East Owenat. The contract will be implemented over an eight-month period.

Electric Power Systems Engineering Co. (EPS) has been appointed to undertake the design and consulting services of the project under the supervision of Middle Egypt Electricity Distribution, Shaker added.
