Dubai Ambulance has set itself a target of reaching a patient within four minutes as part of the Dubai 10X initiative with a project themed 'instant response'.

The project has been selected among a package of government projects that was launched by Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council (DEC), at the world government summit that was held recently.

"We endeavor through this project to transform every resident and visitor in Dubai to a versed life saver when they call for a responder at a click of a button. This will contribute to enhancing the quality of the ambulance services by speeding up the response time to less than four minutes at vital areas," said Khalifa Al Drai, Executive Director of the DCAS.

The response time is a challenge to ambulance services as no organization has ever responded to any report in four minutes, he said.

The project, instant response, relies on the artificial intelligence (AI) technology for analyzing huge data to get the required results. As DCAs is a health facility which depends on data analysis in taking a proper decision, the AI will be having a pivotal role in analyzing patients' data, and expect their ailment cases.

According to Meshal Julfar, Head of the 10X team and Chief of the Medical Dispatching Section, the project is designed to foresee the emergency cases.

Julfar said reaching a patient in four minutes is our major goal and in such a situation the paramedic responder communicates with the medical ambulance team over smart phone, video and audio.

He said the smart instant response project takes into consideration that survival rate in heart patients in case of a cardiac arrest is less than 10 per cent so the procedure is to attend to the patient quickly by the nearest responder before the ambulance arrives.

The responder can be summoned at a click of a button via a smart phone application, Julfar highlighted.
