RTA's Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) has signed a contract with Al Dobowi Tyres Group to supply Korean's Hankook tyres for its Taxi fleet for a period of two years amounting to AED12 million.

Dr. Yousef Al Ali, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation, said: "Renewing the contract with Al Dobowi Co. signals the continued cooperation between the two parties. It is obvious that tyres have a critical role in maintaining the safety of the vehicle, driver and riders, and the DTC is keen to include in the contract a provision for undertaking periodic maintenance of tyres by the Company. The DTC pays considerable attention to all safety issues, especially those relating to tyres, in order to come up with the best deliverables towards realizing its vision of Pioneers in Passenger Transport Services.

"The contract provides for supplying the DTC with South Korean-made Hankook brand tyres compatible with GCC specifications and standards. The Company would also attend to fitting & balancing of tyres and carrying out wheel alignment in case of replacing two or more tyres per vehicle. The contract also provides for Al Dobowi to repair tyre punctures in DTC taxicabs, and appoint agents to provide this complimentary service at their facilities," added Al Ali.

"Tyres of the Dubai Taxicabs will be replaced exclusively by Al Dobowi at DTC's Workshop at Muhaisna 4 as well as external centers of the Company. The Company will also provide the requisite equipment and staff 24/7 including holidays as per the timetable agreed to. It has also been agreed that the Company will purchase the used and replaced tyres of various sizes for environmentally safe disposal of such tyres.

Mr. Surender Singh Kandhari - Founder & Chairman of Al Dobowi Group was delighted with the renewal of the contract and working side by side with the DTC for two additional years. "We are fully ready to honor what we have agreed to in this contract taking into consideration the interests of the DTC and providing the highest levels of security & safety to its taxi fleet. We will provide all relevant equipment needed for changing and balancing of tyres at DTC's workshop and operate them by expert & skilled technicians, besides supplying nitrogen gas free of charge to all new tyres mounted at the Center in addition to providing a mobile service in emergency cases. The contract covers manufacturing defects and issuing of safety certificates twice during the initial period of the contract."
