Dubai: The back to school period is one of the busiest times of year for shoppers as parents and students hit the stores ahead of the new academic term.

As part of Dubai Summer Surprises’ (DSS) famous tradition of offering residents and visitors the chance to take home life-changing prizes, lucky shoppers can win cash rewards to help cover the cost of school fees for the upcoming year.

For the 24th edition of DSS, customers shopping the sales at participating malls and stores can share a grand total of AED275,000 by participating in great scholarship promotions held as part of the annual back to school season.

Returning to the DSS line-up of promotions for the second year running, the Modesh Scholarship will award a total of AED250,000 to lucky students and their families. Ten winners will be presented with AED25,000 each, with the prize draw taking place at the end of DSS on 4 September.

Open to students of all ages, shoppers can have a chance of winning by spending a minimum of AED200 at Ibn Battuta Mall, Nakheel Mall or Circle Mall and scanning their receipts at the customer service desk to be eligible for the prize draw.

Jumbo is also offering families a welcome financial boost ahead of students returning to classes. The citywide electronics retailer is giving away AED25,000 in school fees to one lucky customer who spends more than AED1,000 on laptops, desktops and tablets at branches of Jumbo Stores and online at www.jumbo.ae.

As part of the great scholarship prize draw, shoppers will also have the opportunity to win a brand-new Microsoft Surface Go laptop each day until the end of DSS.

The Modesh Scholarship and Jumbo promotion are available open to all students, including adult learners, and can be used to pay fees for school, university and online study courses.

Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), DSS and the back to school retail promotion showcases Dubai as a fun, open, welcoming and safe destination, with all of the participating venues, stores and malls following the important health and safety procedures, including social distancing and the wearing of masks at all times.
