The Dubai Police Command and Control room received about 350,000 calls during the holy month of Ramadan, a senior officer has said.

Lt-Col Mohammed Abdullah Al Muhairi, deputy director of Dubai Police Command and Control Room, said the operations room also received 16,042 calls regarding accidents in Dubai.

Most of the accidents occurred due to speeding, said Lt-Col Al Muhairi adding that a number of these happened before Iftar. Other major resaons included drivers not leaving enough distance between vehicles, lack of commitment to the lane discipline and lack of attention while driving.

He called on all drivers and road users to exercise caution when approaching intersections. He stressed that the Dubai Police are always seeking to raise awareness and traffic culture among community, especially vehicle owners and road users, through campaigns.
