Neil Hawkins, Chief Sustainability Officer and Corporate Vice President, EH&S, to address sustainability's role in business at the World Future Energy Summit, Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi, UAE - 13 January 2016: Sustainability will be one of the featured topics at the World Future Energy Summit 2016 (WFES) with Chief Sustainability Officer and Corporate Vice President for Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S), of The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW), Neil Hawkins (@NeilCHawkins), presenting.  Hawkins is a global authority in the private sector on sustainable business practices, EH&S management, and national and international public policy platforms for global sustainable development.

Hawkins will join other leaders and experts on the "Sustainability's Role in Big Business," panel scheduled for Thursday, January 21 at 9.00 AM. The interactive session will explore the key role of business in helping advance sustainability, provide examples of emerging best practices, and demonstrate how a commitment to sustainability can be a critical business driver.  Hawkins will share details on Dow's sustainability journey, evolving from a focus on the "footprint" of its operations, the positive "handprint" of its more sustainable solutions, and now helping develop a "blueprint" for a more sustainable future.

"A sustainable energy future cannot be achieved by any individual party alone; it is only possible through courageous collaboration at the intersections of business, government and society," said Hawkins. "At WFES 2016, I am proud to discuss how we can work together to redefine the role of business in society and help lead the transition to a more sustainable planet and society."

Dow recently announced its third decade of sustainability targets, the ambitious 2025 Sustainability Goals (#Dow2025).  These Goals mark the third era of sustainability at Dow after significant advancements since launching a first set of decade-long, sustainability-related goals in 1995. With these Sustainability Goals, Dow seeks to advance global sustainability by unlocking the potential of people and science, valuing nature, and collaborating courageously.

"Few companies have the global and supply chain footprint of Dow and thus the ability to enact bold, positive change across the communication and environment," said Hawkins. "The WFES is an ideal forum to share learnings from Dow and promote collaboration, and I look forward to discussing the important role business plays in achieving a more sustainable society."
