Airports in Dubai will close down from March 26 as per preventive measures by UAE authorities to contain the spread of coronavirus, Covid-19, spread.

In a statement issued on Monday, Dubai Airports said that Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) - will be closed to the travelling public until further notice.

The full statement:

'In these unprecedented times of uncertainty, the decision has been made by the UAE authorities to suspend all inbound and outbound passenger flights, and the transit of airline passengers in the UAE, for two weeks, subject to reassessment, as part of the precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of Covid-19, starting at 11:59 pm on March 26 (Thursday).

During this time, vital cargo and emergency evacuation flights will operate, however all other flights will come to a temporary halt and our two airports - Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central (DWC) - will be closed to the travelling public until further notice.

We thank you for your understanding and support during this challenging situation. At Dubai Airports we are fully committed to supporting the measures being taken to ensure the health and safety of our valued customers, our community and our employees.

While these measures are being taken we will continue to work closely with airlines, control authorities, service partners and the authorities to ensure we are ready to resume operations once it is deemed safe to do so.

Until that time, we urge you to stay safe'

However, DXB tweeted that the airports will be closed for two weeks, subject to reassessment.
