Abu Dhabi City Municipality has called upon companies in the construction sector to take precautionary measures during inclement weather.

The advisory came on Sunday, shortly after Ras Al Khaimah police evacuated a multi-story old residential building after concrete parts from the structure starting falling apart earlier that day.

The falling concrete parts were blamed on the recent heavy showers, according to Brigadier Abdullah Khamis Al Hadidi, Acting General Commander of Ras Al Khaimah Police.

The advisory urged companies to take care during windy weather - in order to eliminate and minimise related incidents, such as stopping lifting operations and ensuring all equipment are secured properly among other measures.

Heavy rains and winds lashed UAE on Sunday and over the weekend, flooding roads in some areas, including causing damage to a building in RAK.
