Mubasher: Bahrain's Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) on Monday revealed plans to cancel state subsidy on electricity by 2023, a member in the Financial and Economic Affairs Committees of Bahrain's Council of Representatives said.

The GCC nation seeks to enhance the use of clean energy to achieve this objective, the official added.

The government's electricity subsidy for households amounted to BHD 141 million per year, the official noted, adding that Bahrain will not amend electricity and water tariffs for this segment over the coming four years.
