Design and manufacture of high specification products exported from Abu Dhabi aligned with Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030
Abu Dhabi, UAE; : Arkan Building Materials Co. PJSC (ADX: ARKAN) (‘Arkan’), a leading construction and building materials company in the UAE, today announced significant progress in building out export markets by its ANABEEB speciality pipes business, both in the Far East and in Central Africa. This is in-line with the Company’s strategy to increase exports over the coming years to 20% of revenues to broaden its customer base and diversify its income.
In 2017, contracts have been signed for specialist Glass Reinforced Pipes (‘GRP’) and Unplasticised Polyvinyl Chloride (‘U-PVC’) Pipes for a range of important municipal infrastructure projects for customers, principally government ministries, in export markets comprising: Philippines, Hong Kong, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe and Mauritius.
Commenting on the successful export strategy, Eng. ANABEEB manufactures GRP Pipes for integrated sewerage/drainage system solutions at its facility situated in Al Mafraq and U-PVC pipes, for use in infrastructure projects, at its facility in Mussafah.
Market contracts
· Philippines
Arkan has won contracts with Manila Water for GRP Pipes and Jacking Pipes for infrastructure and drainage projects. Arkan will also be supplying Jacking Pipes for micro-tunnelling to Maynilad Water services. The Company also shipped several of its innovative GRP manhole systems to Manila Water and is working with them to develop specifications for this new product introduction.
· Hong Kong
Arkan has been supplying HK Drainage Services Department GRP pipes for sewer network rehabilitation and relining and has completed five realignment project for the City to date. Arkan will make another shipment for further realignment projects in November this year and will be quoting for further realignment projects in 2018.
· Uganda
In Uganda, Arkan has won a contract for the supply of PVC pipes and fittings for the Ministry of Water & Environment for water supply and sanitation construction works in Rukungiri, Katwe-Kabatoro and Koboko. Arkan shipped 50 containers of pipes during June and July 2017. The Company is in discussions with the Ministry concerning further projects.
· Tanzania
In August, Arkan supplied four containers of PVC pipes and fittings to the Tanzania Water Authority for a water supply and sanitation project. This is a pilot shipment to Tanzania allowing authorities to evaluate product quality before assigning the complete project.
· Zimbabwe
This year Arkan supplied GRP pipes and fittings to the City of Harare for the Harare Water project as part of the Rapid Results Programme and a further shipment will be exported to Zimbabwe in October. The Company recently quoted for a project, expected to start in early 2018, for 2.5km of GRP pipes for wastewater lines also for the City of Harare.
· Mauritius
Arkan supplied GRP pipes and fittings for several infrastructure projects to the Government of Mauritius in 2016. The Company is a certified supplier to Mauritius and is awaiting confirmation for a recent tender quotation for a 3km project for GRP pipes and fittings for a sewer network.
