Dubai: Ahmad Bin Shafar, CEO of Emirates Central Cooling Systems Corporation (Empower), the world’s largest district cooling services provider, attended a Gala Dinner organized by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) at Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Dubai.

A delegation from ASHRAE, led by Daryl K. Boyce, President of ASHRAE Society and included Dr. Ahmed Alaa, RAL Director of ASHRAE, Farooq Mahboob, Vice President of ASHRAE, Hassan Younes, member of ASHRAE and President of Falcon Chapter, and Tim Wentz, Presidential Member and Former President of ASHRAE Society as well as ASHRAE employees and partners were attended in the Gala dinner.

Prior to the Gala Dinner, Boyce presented an award to Bin Shafar, in appreciation for his efforts in district cooling and environmental issues in his 16 years of experience in the Middle East. Boyce also commended Bin Shafar for his role in promoting district cooling in the region, through the launch of the ‘2008 ASHRAE Handbook’, and the second launch of the ’Owner’s Guide for buildings served by District Cooling’ and the updated edition of the ‘District Cooling Guide’ for designers and building owners around the world, published in 2019.

This counts as a global recognition for Empower’s efforts in raising awareness about district cooling services locally and internationally, and advocating for environmental issues.

“This recognition reflects our efforts in the district cooling industry, and our ability to contribute to offering innovative solutions and technologies in this sector,” said Bin Shafar.

Bin Shafar stressed that Empower strives to make more achievements in the district cooling sector, as part of its commitment towards sustainable development and environmental conservation, for future generations.

Empower provides district cooling services to more than 1,090 buildings, catering to more than 100,000 customers. The company operates more than 1.43 Million Refrigeration Tons (RT), providing environmentally friendly district cooling services to large-scale real estate developments, such as Bluewaters, Jumeirah Group, Business Bay, Jumeirah Beach Residence, Dubai International Financial Centre, Palm Jumeirah, Jumeirah Lake Towers, Ibn Battuta Mall, Discovery Gardens, Dubai Healthcare City, Dubai World Trade Centre Residences and Dubai Design District, International Media Production Zone and others.
