Abu Dhabi: Non-oil exports of Abu Dhabi to the US jumped by 94.8% year-on-year in the first four months of 2018 to record AED 860 billion from AED 441 million.

On the other hand, the emirate’s exports of aluminium and iron and steel rose by 22% in the January-April period of this year, according to a report issued by the Statistics Centre Abu Dhabi (SCAD).

Aluminium exports grew 22.9% to AED 1.90 billion at the end of April, compared to AED 1.34 billion in the same period a year earlier.

The emirate’s exports of iron and steel surged by 22.3% to reach AED 530 million in the four-month period ended April, versus AED 433 million in the prior-year period, Al Bayan Newspaper reported.

Moreover, Abu Dhabi’s non-oil exports went up by 9.7% year-on-year in the four-month period to reach AED 8 billion from AED 7.3 billion.

Meanwhile, re-exports increased to AED 8.9 billion, up 3.9% from AED 8.5 billion, the report highlighted.

The value of the emirate’s non-oil foreign trade fell 2.8%at the end of April to AED 54.6 billion, versus AED 56.2 billion in the corresponding period of 2017, data showed.
