• The charter will raise awareness about principles of government work and employees’ rights, responsibilities and duties, while promoting the highest standards for professional conduct across government institutions
  • Alia Abdualla Al Mazrouei: “We are committed to instilling our Founding Father’s vision and approach, and pledge to reflect our values and traditions to represent the UAE’s best image.”

Abu Dhabi:  In line with its commitment to fulfill Abu Dhabi’s aspirations towards government excellence, the Abu Dhabi School of Government (ADSG) has launched the Government Employment Charter (GEC), a workshop program designed for employees of the Abu Dhabi Government, in the city of Al Ain. Over 350 employees from 12 government entities are set to participate in workshops, following a successful pilot in Abu Dhabi since 2018.

Developed specifically for government employees across Abu Dhabi, the program introduces the principles of government service and basic professional workplace conduct. It will also introduce them to the provisions of the charter, developed to ensure all government employees perform their work according to established priorities, aligning the nation’s wider ambitions with the local community’s interests. The program encourages knowledge-sharing and the exchange of expertise among employees, while promoting their abilities to efficiently and competently lead the government service ecosystem today and in the future, furthering the achievements of the government sector in Abu Dhabi.

The workshops include interactive sessions combined with group activities, panel discussions and practical experiences that reflect the charter's five principles – Loyalty, Excellence & Pioneering, Efficiency & Effectiveness, Personal and Public Responsibility, and Integrity. The program will train employees on positive behaviors based on these principles, so they can overcome the challenges they may face in their personal and professional lives.

Her Excellency Alia Abdulla Al Mazrouei, Acting Director General of ADSG, commented on the occasion: “The launch of the Government Employment Charter in Al Ain today reaffirms our commitment to the vision of the founding father of the UAE, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. We have pledged, both to ourselves and to our wise leadership, to represent the UAE in the best possible way, with government employees reflecting the main principles of the charter in their workplaces.”

Al Mazrouei added: “Designed and supervised by capable Emirati talent, the GEC program takes into consideration the needs of Abu Dhabi’s government employees. Guided by the principles of the late Sheikh Zayed, we strive to build exceptional government capabilities to improve institutional performance in Abu Dhabi. Therefore, by fulfilling the vision and the directives of our wise leadership, headed by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, ADSG aims to achieve a diverse, sustainable and knowledge-based economy for the emirate.”

ADSG initially launched the charter's pilot program at the end of 2018 for 1,000 government employees. The program was then extended, offering daily workshops that cover different government institutions. The ADSG aims to enroll around 30,000 employees in the GEC program, equipping them with the principles, skills and behaviors that will enable them to carry out their work according to the highest standards, while promoting Abu Dhabi as a hub for government excellence and driving the vision for the emirate towards sustainable, open economy.
