Manama, AGU: The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) recently held a meeting to unveil the financial bids for furnishing equipment for the King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City Hospital project in Bahrain.

The meeting was attended by the companies that qualified for the finalists after several bids were carefully studied. The companies were Bassam Trading Company (BD7,218,148.559), Mofen Al Rassam Company (BD7,617,094.800) and Havelock One Interiors Company (BD7,530, 767.471).

During the meeting, AGU President Dr.  Khalid Abdulrahman Al Ohaly expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, for directing to continue supporting the implementation of the project, which was a grant from the late King Abullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who instructed to construct the SR1 billion King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Medical City in the Kingdom of Bahrain as a gift from the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the people of the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Dr Al Ohaly also expressed gratitude to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa for directing to allocate a one-million square-meter land in the Southern Governorate for the construction of the project, at the same time, AGU President praised the role of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) in supervising the project, as well as the efforts exerted by the Kingdom of Bahrain to rehabilitate the infrastructure of the project from the budget allocated from the GCC Development Programme (GCC Marshall Plan).

For his part, Deputy President of AGU Dr Khalid Saeed Tabbarah affirmed that the University has come a long way in the process of building the Medical City project, explaining that this stage comes to select the companies responsible for taking over the furnishing process of the Medical City buildings, adding that another meeting will be held next week to open the bids submitted to equip the hospital with medical devices.

Dr Tabbarah announced that the King Abdullah Medical City will be ready by the end of 2021 and will begin its operations by the beginning of 2022. Explaining further, the Deputy President added: "These three bids qualified after reviewing all the other bids and selecting the best ones on the technical level. As we open today the financial bids for the three companies that qualified for the final stage, one of which will be selected after conducting the last thorough study, which will include the process of matching the best price and the best technical specifications."

The meeting was held at AGU headquarters in Bahrain on Tuesday (October 20, 2020), in the presence of Dr Al Ohaly, AGU's College of Medicine and Medical Science (CMMS) Dean Dr Abdelhalim Deifalla and Administrative and Financial Affairs Director Hesham Al Ansari. Also attending the meeting through audio-visual communication (Zoom) were representatives from the supervisor of the project financing stages; SFD, the project's engineering consultant; Saudi Consult, and the University's representative in the project; Hisham Abdul Rahman Jaffer (HAJ) Company.
