Manama, Arabian Gulf University: The Arabian Gulf University (AGU) recently announced the appointment of a new Dean of the College of Graduate Studies (CGS) in the University. This came as AGU confirmed that President Dr Khalid bin Abdulrahman Al Ohaly recently issued a resolution appointing Dr Soud Mohammed AlMahamid as the new dean of CGS, to succeed Dr Mohammed Dahmani.

On the occasion, Dr AlMahamid expressed his deep thanks to Dr Al Ohaly for his continuous support to the university's faculty members, especially in light of the availability of an academic environment incubating and encouraging scientific research.

"We aim at AGU to be a distinguished academic and research centre to address the concerns of the GCC countries. Therefore, the university gives priority to research that is concerned with developing solutions to health problems facing Gulf citizens." Dr AlMahamid said.

Dr AlMahamid was awarded the Jordanian Government Excellence Scholarship to obtain a PhD for three years (2002-2005), and a PhD in Management Information Systems from the University of the West of England (UWE) in the United Kingdom in 2005. He has also worked in the higher education sector (Public and Private Universities) for 20 years and has more than 50 published research papers and accepted to be published in international scientific journals.

Dr AlMahamid carried out many studies with national institutions such as the Information & e-Government Authority (IGA), the Supreme Council of Health (SCH), and Bahrain Institute of Public Administration (BIPA). Additionally, he supervised more than 40 theses of Master's degrees in business administration, innovation and e-commerce, and is currently supervising a group of PhD students in innovation and technology management.

Dr AlMahamid have organized and chaired many conferences specialized in the fields of higher education, while he also occupies the position of an external debater of PhD and Master's theses in Gulf, Arab and International universities.

He is also an accredited evaluator of many scientific journals in the fields of business administration and innovation and a certified evaluator for faculty promotions for many universities and degrees, such (Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor). Moreover, he is a certified evaluator for Bachelor's and Master's programmes in Colleges of Business Administration and the Accreditation Authority in Jordan.

Dr AlMahamid is an expert in the field of higher education and has many television interviews on developing higher education. He has also participated in many conferences in the Gulf, Arab and international countries, and worked as a coordinator for graduate studies in the Department of Technology Management and Innovation at AGU.

He worked as acting dean of scientific research, deputy dean of scientific research, deputy dean of the College of Business, chairman of the Business Administration Department, and chairman of the Scientific Research Committee at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University (AHU) in Jordan.

Dr AlMahamid later worked as head of Business Administration and Marketing Department at the University of the Middle East (MEU) in Jordan. and a visiting professor at Amman Arab University, a part-time professor at the University of Petra, as well as a lecturer at Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) and as a teaching assistant at the University of Jordan.
