Standard Carpets, the region’s largest producer and exporter of broadloom carpets, carpet tiles and artificial grass, has broken ground on a new manufacturing plant in Dubai Industrial City.

The new facility, covering a total land area of more than 3 million square feet and built-up area of 1.6 million square feet, is scheduled to start operations in 2023, Dubai Industrial City said in a press statement.

It said the “all-under-one-roof” plant will allow Standard Carpets to increase its production capacity by 40 per cent and produce an additional 400 tonnes of yarn per month in first phase.

The new factory will also install a solar rooftop plant that will meet more than one-third of its electricity consumption and implement smart sustainability solutions to reduce water consumption and divert waste away from landfill.

Dubai Industrial City said the expansion “will boost Operation 300bn, promote high-quality Made in UAE products, enhance Dubai’s position as a global manufacturing hub and contribute to GDP growth.”

Standard Carpets started its factory in Dubai Industrial City in 2014 and currently exports to more than 60 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia and the US.
