Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) is expected to award the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for its Al Buhairah Substation project in Tabuk City, Northern region in the fourth quarter of 2020, a source close to the project said.
"The main contract tender was issued on 6 July 2020 with bid submission deadline of 24 August 2020. The EPC contract award is expected by early December 2020," the source told Zawya Projects, adding that the project completion is scheduled for second quarter 2023.
The source estimated the project cost at around $80 million.
The bidders for the EPC work comprised of Siemens, Saudi Services for Electro Mechanic Works, National Contracting Company, Al Gihaz Holding, Mohammed Al Ojaimi Group, Al Babtain Contracting, Trading & Development Partnership, Hyundai E&C, Larsen & Toubro, Alfanar, Nesma Electric, Tareg Al Jaafari Contracting Est, Al Toukhi Company, Al Mashariq Company, officials from six companies confirmed with Zawya Projects.
The source said Al Mashariq submitted lowest bid at $68.5 million.
The scope of work involves the construction of 380/132/13.8 kV GIS substation, 502MVA power transformer, protection and substation automation system, 120MVA reactor, telecommunication system, civil works and associated work.
