Kuwait has invited bids for the construction of a sewage station at a cost of around 175 million Kuwaiti dinars ($577 million), a local newspaper said on Monday.

The Public Works Ministry set a bidding deadline on Dec 28 for the project, which is located in Matla in Jahra Governorate, the Arabic language daily Alrai said.

It quoted Ministry sources as saying the station will have a capacity of 400,000 cubic metres per day and that the project also involves the building of 40 kilometers (km) pipeline networks and other facilities.

The paper said Kuwait issued bids for the project in 2020 but it was later cancelled, adding that companies from Turkey, Egypt and China were among the main bidders.
