Iraq's Ministry of Planning has approved 70 projects in different sectors in Dhi Qar Governorate while provisioning for increase in costs for certain projects, the spokesperson for the ministry said.
 
Abdul-Zahra Al-Hindawi told Zawya Projects that the Minister of Planning, Khaled Battal Al-Najm, has authorised  ministry officials to manage the cost escalations and adjustments to ensure timely completion of the affected projects.
 
He said provisions have been made to manage cost increases for education, water, youth and sports projects, adding that there are 45 projects in education sector, 10 in the water sector, and 6 projects in the youth and sports sector.
 
Al-Hindawi said projects that have been processed include Shatrah sewage, College of Education, and Nasiriyah-Suq Al-Shuyoukh road project, and projects under process include health clinics in Al Dawaya and the Suq Al-Shuyoukh water project, an asphalt plant and four police stations.
