GE Renewable Energy announced on Monday that it has been selected by EDF RE and Mitsui & Co to supply equipment for the 87 megawatt (MW) Taza onshore wind farm in Morocco.

The company said in a statement that 27 of GE's 3.2-85 onshore wind turbines would be installed near Taza, in the North of Morocco, adding that the project is expected to start operations at the beginning of 2022.

The statement said the project is part of the energy strategy of Morocco, which has a goal of producing 52 percent of its installed electric power from renewable energies by 2030.

It also noted that the Taza project adds to the 200 MW built at the Akhfenir wind farm by the company.
