Background

PT Indonesia Dafeng Heshun Energy Industri planned to develop 1200 MW Indonesia DATA DIAN Hydropower Station Phase I Project, in Kayan, North Kalimantan, Indonesia. China Gezhouba Group Co Ltd was the EPC contractor. The project covered the construction of a hydro power plant located in the middle and upper reaches of the Kahayan River basin in North Kalimantan Province. The capacity was 1200 MW. It primarily consisted of designing, procuring, constructing, debugging and performing trials for constructions including the roller-compacted concrete dam, flood discharge structures, water diversions, entrance roadway, diversion tunnels and power plant. The construction period was about 60 months. Gezhouba would debug the station and conduct trials runs as part of the five-year agreement before handing control. The project responded to Belt and Road Initiative and would improve local electricity.
