Background

Holy Makkah Municipality plans to develop Makkah Metro in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. The project will cover 114 KM Metro lines and will include four lines, A, B, C, and D and a total of 88 stations. Almost 35 Km of the metro will be underground comprising 21 stations. It will connect Al Mashair railway with the Haramain High speed rail. The project will be developed in several phases. Phase 1 will cover 45.1 Km of metro line including 22 stations and will be developed in 2 Sections. It includes line B and 2 parts of line C. Phase 2 will cover the construction the 27.7 KM line A with its 18 stations. Phase 3 will cover the construction the 50.7 KM metro line. It will include D and line C extension with its 26 stations in total. Parsons Brinckerhoff is the PMC consultant, the JV of SYSTRA S.A. and AECOM Arabia Company Limited is the feasibility study consultant and Al Balad Al Ameen Trading is the technical study consultant. the DB contract for the civil works section 1 was awarded to the consortium of Isowy Corsan,Haif Bin Mohammed Bin Abboud Al Qahtani For Trading & Contracting CompanyKolin,SMEC Holdings Limited as Engineering (Australia) and Kunhwa Engineering & Consulting Co. Ltd. as Engineering (Korea)
