Background

The High Commission for the Development of Arriyadh (ADA) plans to develop lines 4, 5 and 6 within Phase 3 of the Riyadh Metro Network located in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The project covers the construction of 3 metro lines with a total capacity of 63 KM including 25 stations. Line 4 (yellow) 30km metro line joins King Khalid International Airport to the King Abdullah Financial District all above ground and also including 8 stations. Line 5 (green) 3 km metro line is underground in a bored tunnel along King Abdulaziz Street, between King Abdul Aziz Historical Centre and the Riyadh Airbase, before connecting with King Abdullah Road. It also includes 11 stations, in addition to 2 transfer stations with Lines 1 and 2. Line 6 (violet) (Violet / Purple line): 21km metro line is mostly above ground, with a short underground section at Sheikh Hasan Bin Husein Bin Ali Street. The line starts at King Abdullah Financial District, passing by Imam Mohamed Bin Saud University and ending at Prince Saad Ibn Abdulrahman Al Awal Road. It also includes 6 stations. Dar Al Handasah Shair and Partners - Saudi Arabia and Egis Rail S.A. are the preliminary design consultants. Zaha Hadid Architects is the design consultant for King Abdullah Financial District station and Riyadh Advanced Metro Project Execution & Delivery (RAMPED) is the design consultant for the yellow, green and purple lines.
