Background

Dubai Holding (L.L.C) plans to develop, Marsa Al Arab, a mega development located on two man-made islands on both sides of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, Jumeirah Beach Road, Jumeirah, Dubai, UAE. The project covers the construction of a mega mixed use development with a 2.2 Km beachfront over a land area of 371,612.16 sq.m. The project will be composed of several components divided among the two islands and will include: New Jumeirah Hotel, Marsa Al Arab Marina, Cirque du Soleil, Marine Park, Business Destination, Marsa Al Arab Shopping Mall, Dubai Pearl Museum, Exclusive Private Island and Marsa Al Arab Residential Tower. One island will be dedicated to entertainment and family tourism and other will have a luxury resort, the resort will have 400 F&B outlets. New Jumeirah Hotel, a new family-oriented hotel, will be opened alongside a new, larger Wild Wadi Waterpark which will be relocated from its current position behind the existing Jumeirah Beach Hotel. Marsa Al Arab Marina will include a yacht club with a private marina complete with a helicopter pad, handy for those wishing to fly in. Cirque du Soleil will be a dedicated theatre with 1,700 seats will become home to the world-renowned show Cirque du Soleil for the first time in the Middle East. Marine Park, an 'edutainment' centre, will include a 1,000 capacity theatre which will be located at the end of the park, designed to attract world-class shows that both showcase and allow visitors to interact with marine life. Business Destination will serve as a business destination, with commercial offices and a mixed-use convention centre that will have facilities for international conferences and festivals. A new hotel will offer corporate services for businesses. Marsa Al Arab Shopping Mall will be 20,000 sq.m of retail space which will take the place of the current Wild Wadi Water Park. The shopping centre will contain 400 high-end brand retailers as well as restaurants and coffee shops. Dubai Pearl Museum will include a historical collection of rare and ancient pearls from the region and worldwide. The museum aims to highlight the UAE's heritage by showcasing the lives of the divers and the tools they used to find the precious jewels. The museum will even include a functional pearl farm in the adjoining sea. A pearl-inspired boutique hotel with unique facilities and specialist retail outlets will be located nearby. Exclusive Private Island which is the left island will include 140 luxury villas which will have a private marina and views of the Burj Al Arab, there will also be a boutique hotel equipped with world-class facilities. Marsa Al Arab Residential Tower will offer 300 sea-view residential apartments in the heart of the development. Dar Al Handasah is the consultant Jumeirah Group will operate the project.
