Background

Government of Uganda planned to develop 500 MW Uganda Solar Power Plant in Moroto, Northern Uganda, Uganda. China Gezhouba Group International Engineering Co Ltd was EPC contractor of the project. It exposed its EPC framework agreement in 17 Feb 2020 in which it was expected to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the project. The project covered the construction of PV solar power plants with an overall capacity of 500 MW, and other infrastructure construction was not revealed. The project would be developed in two phases. It was estimated only 22% of Ugandans had access to electricity at this point, and this project was expected to greatly ease electricity shortage situation in Uganda.
