Background

Ceylon Electricity Board planed to develop Sri Lanka Supporting Electricity Supply Reliability Improvement Project - 33 kV Lines & Gantries, in nation wide, Sri Lanka. Qingdao Huijintong Power Equipment Co Ltd was the main EPC contractor of this project. The project covered the construction of the new 33 kV distribution lines and gantries for the master supporting electricity supply reliability improvement project. With the completion, the project was expected to improve the medium voltage network in this country which would enhance the reliability of electricity supply to more than 493,000 consumers. The number of rural households using the electricity provided by this project would be estimated 35,710. The former conflict-affected Northern and Eastern provinces in this country would benefit from this project. It would expand the possibility to develop clean, reliable and renewable energy. The project cooperated and involved international contractors including companies from China. It also located in the country along Belt and Road Initiative.
