Background

National Water Supply and Drainage Board planned to develop Basnagoda Reservoir Project , in Gampaha, Western, Sri Lanka. Sinohydro Bureau 14 Co Ltd was the EPC contractor. It was designed to be constructed with a concrete dam of 2.5 m in height and 130 m in length for the storage of a water capacity of 3.5 million Cubic meters (MCM). The construction period would be 18 months. After the completion of the project, it would solve the problem of irrigation and residential water use for the area. With Chinese government involved, this project was regarded as a BRI project.
